Somali Transport & Allied Workers Unions

Main Objectives

Our Main Objectives

Advocating for Workers' Rights

SOTAWU aims to protect and promote the rights of transport and allied workers in Somalia. This includes advocating for fair wages, safe working conditions, reasonable working hours, and the prevention of exploitation.

Improving Job Security

SOTAWU seeks to enhance job security for its members by negotiating contracts and agreements that safeguard their employment. This may involve advocating for regular employment contracts, protection against arbitrary dismissals, and the provision of social benefits.

Enhancing Occupational Safety

Given the hazardous nature of the transport industry, SOTAWU places a strong emphasis on improving occupational safety for its members. This involves advocating for safety regulations, training programs, and the provision of necessary safety equipment to minimize workplace accidents and injuries.

Providing Social Benefits

SOTAWU may strive to secure social benefits for its members, such as access to healthcare, insurance coverage, and retirement pensions. These benefits aim to improve the overall welfare and well-being of transport and allied workers in Somalia.

Promoting Professional Development

SOTAWU may work towards creating opportunities for professional growth and development among its members. This can involve organizing training programs, workshops, and skill-building initiatives to enhance the knowledge and capabilities of workers in the transport industry.
